Hardwood Care
Common Grade / Select
All wood floors have a certain variation in the coloring and characteristics from board to board. Depending on the part of the tree, the region of the tree, and many other possibilities, each board will vary from one to the next. This is the beauty of a wood floor.
The difference between select and common grade is that common may have 10-15% more characteristic than select. Variation characteristics include knots, mineral streaks and color variations. This rating has nothing to do with the quality rating of the floor.
Regular Cleaning
One of the most beautiful features of wood, is its ability to last a lifetime on the floor.
These products are sprayed on to a mop and then applied to the floor. A vacuum can be used to pick up loose dirt and dust. For cleaning excess glue or tough stains, Hartco "Wipe Clean" is what we recommend.
Do not apply water or any other chemical directly to the floor. This can ruin the finish permanently.
Scratches and Splinters
In some cases, your wood floor may chip, scratch, or splinter. Penn Mar Floors carries several touch up kits that can be used to restain these imperfections as well as dab a bit of urethane to hide it further.
Traffic Wear
In some areas of high traffic, the urethane gloss on the surface may begin to show wear. No need to re-sand and stain the floor all over again, Penn Mar Floors carries a Do-It-Yourself Urethane finish called Pacific Ultra that can be applied with a cloth. Within an hour, your floor will shine like new. Pacific Ultra is available in medium and high gloss.
